Prevent Windows from installing updates at shutdown in Windows 10 creators update [Exclusive]

Who loves updates ? that installs automatically particularly during shutdown or when our PC's is

running low on battery, or when we no longer need it?

In Windows, there is an option that allows us to install update before shutting down our PC.

Probably you may had seen this option, " Update and Shutdown" in the start menu or while pressing

Alt and F4 keys to shutdown or restart or to put your pc to sleep.

When you choose this option, then your PC will automatically begins to sign you out,

and will continue its job of installing updates.

Here, is an method that will prevent your windows 10 PC to install updates before shutting down.

I had found this tweak in the Windows 10 Creators update build, and i think it will work on previous

builds too.

So, how to do it ?

It is an registry tweak, so consider backing up your registry, if you are new to registry area.

And follow the steps below.

Prevent Update and Shutdown from appearing in start menu 

of Windows 10 - How to

1) Press Windows (logo) and R Keys, Simultaneously, it will display RUN Command.

2) Type regedit and Hit enter.

3) Navigate to the following location(key)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate

4) Expand WindowsUpdate setting and then also expand AutoUpdate.

5) When you expanded you can see Power folder(key) appearing on the list.

6) Select it.

7) Now, on your right pane, you can see various Dwords and Strings like (Default), ContinueInstallAtShutdown-Final, Firmware-Final,etc..

8) Double click or single click the ContinueIstallAtShutdown Dword.

9) Now you can see some value on the value data field like 'a'.

Simply, delete the value and type 0 in that value data box and Hit Enter.

That's it...

It will prevent your system from installing Windows updates during shutdown✌✌.

Tested working on Windows 10 Creators update build.

Windows 10 reset stuck at 99 % for too long, is it OK? [Solution]

Windows 10 is capable of producing unknown errors, even though most of the errors are now replaced with bar code, most of us still see errors that are difficult to identify. A friend of mine encountered the same problem, his PC produced BSOD and asked him to refer the windows site stop code page. Unable to tolerate the continuous errors he decided to reset his windows 10 PC. 

So, he went to settings -> Update & security -> Recovery -> Reset this PC...and performed the reset operation.

We know the reset operation would take some time. So, we decided to wait for some time like 2- 3 hours after initializing the operation. The reset operation showed some improvement like increase in percentage, it went from 0 to 52 % in 2 hrs. but when it reached 99 %  percentage it got stuck on there. We waited for some more time but that didn't showed any improvements. 

We are clueless, and begin to search online for possible solutions, and found it was perfectly OK.

I found some users saying, it completed after 7 hours for one, and it took nearly 10 hours to complete for another One. 

So, if you are experiencing the same problem, then don't do anything just leave as it is and allow it to complete.. 

Don't do the geek method like performing hard shutdown( pressing power button for 5 seconds and restarting) trust me, it will make you to reinstall Windows 10 Operating System by custom installation.

Luckily, my friend's PC completed its reset operation after nearly 5 hours after reaching 99 %.

When enquired about this issue, most of our fellow friends said, that this process depends on the hard disk capacity. 

The choice is yours..! if you wish, you can  reinstall windows 10 in your PC within 30 minutes if you don't care about data loss...

Or else be patient and wait for 1- 14 hrs..

Windows 10 Creators Update the most expected update by creators may have some problems while 

installing or upgrading. Since the most common type of problem we encounter while upgrading our 

PC to latest build (Windows 10 Creators update) is upgrade failure, i like to share a couple of 

methods that would work if you think your Windows 10 Creators update failed to upgrade.

How to fix Windows 10 Creators update upgrade problems

Method 1 : Create a Key to perform OS Upgrade.

1) Press Windows (logo) and R Keys, Simultaneously, it will display RUN Command.

2) Type regedit and Hit enter.

3) Navigate to the following location(key)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate

4) On your right pane, right click on the empty area of that registry editor.

Select New ->  DWORD(32_Bit) value.

Important : you need to choose 32 bit even though you are using 64 bit version of windows 10.

5) Type OSUpgrade

Click on the image to View full Size.

6) Hit Enter.

7) Now, again double click on it, it will pop up Edit DWORD,... box, 

8) type 0x00000001 or 1 on the value data

9) Hit Enter to save,

10) Now, visit your Windows update settings page and check for updates again, you will see your 

Windows downloading updates now.

If that failed, then try the below method too..

Method 2 : Clear update downloads folder

1) Open file Explorer

2) Open 'C' drive.

3) Open Windows folder

4) Scroll down, find and open SoftwareDistribution folder

5) It will open a new window with different folders in it..

Just open downloads folder

6) Press Ctrl + A and Press Shift + Del.

Now, restart your PC and try again..

You can see it works now..

If that too, failed then restart your Windows update service, which may fix the issue.

Windows 10 Creators update is scheduled to hit users PC on April 11, 2017. But when a 

new build of an Operating System was released, some kind of questions arise in our mind,

Will Microsoft Office 2003, 2007 and Office 2010 will run on latest version of Windows  i.e., windows 10 creators update ?

Though, this question is an valid question, as many people are still using the earlier version 

of MS Office. To clarify i checked the Microsoft servers, and found the following..

As per the Microsoft support page, Microsoft Office 2007 and Microsoft office 2010 are 

supported in Windows 10, which means it will work on Windows 10 Creators update too. 

So, you don't need to worry. However, Microsoft recommends to update your Office to latest 

version of Office which is more stable and contains more bug fixes.

But, what for Office 2003 ?, if you have Microsoft Office 2003 it will still work, but you need 

to run in compatibility mode.

Windows 10 Creators update will allow you to pause updates only for 7 Days and not 35 days as said earlier

Today, while i was searching for the new changes in the final windows 10 creators update preview 

edition, i came to see a sudden change in some options from being appeared and disappeared on this 

build. One of the thing i noticed was, the inclusion of some new settings in the updates page. Since i 

was using enterprise edition, i happened to see some new settings that will allow us to choose when 

to get updates like choosing current branch or stable branch,etc.. After seeing that, i revisited my 

settings page to see whether some settings had been added. There was nothing new expect 1 to 3 

settings, and a couple of changes. 

Since my data balance was low, i went  further to turn off the updates. But to my shock it 

happened. 

The option to pause windows 10 updates got a change. In the previous builds i had worked, there 

was an option to pause the updates for 35 days[Screenshot link]. But this build displays a text saying. that we are 

allowed to pause the updates only for 7 days and after 7 days our update will automatically install the 

latest updates.

It is worth pointing that, even though we had paused the windows update, our PC will still download 

and install the critical updates through windows update.

Temporarily pause updates from being installed on this device for up to 7 days. When updates resume, this device will need to get the latest updates before it can be paused again.

I don't know, why Microsoft changed this option,  but you need to some serious action if you 

depend on the internet for lot of works.

Get ready for the update..!

Uninstall system apps in Windows 10 Creators update ??, yah ! there is a way to uninstall the apps

we call it a system app or bloatware. We did that using Powershell in our earlier Windows 10

editions. But in Windows 10 Creators update, when you think about uninstalling all apps at once

using the command Remove-AppxPackage then it will seriously affect your system performance.

Why ? the answer is simple most of the options included in the windows 10 OS are now replaced

with the application.

Microsoft team might had thought,  a clean fresh UI will satisfy the customers and it is the only way

to make them to spend more time on their PC . Of course, it's necessary to satisfy customers so

Microsoft may had followed this approach of bringing a separate system app for everything in the

name of trusted windows store app. But what for other intermediate users like us ? we often

experiment new things by changing some thing and deleting some things.

Today, while i planned to examine what are the things they had changed in Windows 10 Creators

update, i seen this.. Most of the options are now converted into system app.

If you seen the above thing, then you will know why removing app package will make your PC 

broken. The above one shows AccountsControl is a system package name which is likely to perform 

the operation of account control on our PC,  So what if we uninstall it using get-appxpackage|remove-appxpackage -confirm and then y ?

Our accounts control package and bio package will get removed. So when i open account control or bio metric system, my PC won't work.

Like the above, there are many things now are in the form of application or system ui, removing

them will make our PC to miss that option.

The only way to escape from this, is not removing all the packages at once. So don't remove all

packages using powershell instead remove only the packages you don't need like .zunemusic,

alarm,etc things..

Windows 10 Creators update 15063 RTM official ISO File download links are here !

Windows 10 Creators update was rumored to be released on April 10. With Microsoft 

already finished all its works apart from few minor bug fixes, we can expect the Creators 

update release date anytime soon. Also, there are some news that Windows 10 insider 

preview 15063 could be the final version of Windows 10 Creators update build scheduled 

for general public release. 

Even though Microsoft too hadn't officially confirmed this news, We can say this could be 

the one, as the company hadn't released any new builds after that builds release, and this

7) Click on Apply

Brightness is high, not working, not reducing after installing Windows 10 Creators update [Solution]

When you upgrade or install Windows 10 Creators Update, the first problem you will likely to see is 

your brightness is at its peak, when you tried to lower brightness or to control brightness then, it 

won't work !, this will automatically make us feel frustrated. If you are in this situation then here is a 

solution that may fix your issue.

So, what you need to do ??

You need to update or install your display driver to fix the problem.

OK, how to do it ?

Just follow the steps below..

1) Press Windows (logo) Key and R Keys of your Keyboard.

2) Type devmgmt.msc

3) Hit Enter key.

4) It will open device Manager, on that find and click on and expand Display Adapters option.

4) It will display the driver that was installed on your device for example : Intel, Asus, Nvidia,etc..

5) Right click on it, it will display Update driver software, Disable, Uninstall,etc..

6) Click on Update driver software.

7) It will display a new window

"Search Automatically for Updated driver Software" and Browse my computer ...etc.

If you have already downloaded your display driver like Intel or NVIDIA, simply click on browse

my computer for driver option and select the location of that driver,else

click on search automatically for updated driver software option

8) Connect your PC to internet.

9) It will automatically download the relevant software through Windows Update now..

else it will display "Select the device driver you want to install for this hardware" and below that 

there will be two or more options(depends on your device),

one will be your hardware device manufacturer name " for example : Intel (R) HD graphics family"

and other would be "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter".

10) Click on Microsoft Basic Display Adapter option

11) Click on Next

12) Wait, till the driver gets installed.

After Successful installation, it will ask you to restart your PC.

13) Simply select restart now option and restart your PC.

After restart, you can control your display brightness and will work now.

Windows 10 will produce some strange error that will be automatically initialized by some unknown issues like doing update. While Most of the bugs will be fixed after update, there are some bugs that are left unfixed. One of those bugs i recently encountered is "File Explorer crashing after doing search ". This possibly, a bug was seen only doing search on File Explorer, which means it works perfect when i used Cortana to show the search results.

So, what is the fix or solution to this file explorer crashing issue ?

The fix is an simple one, create an new user account on your PC and do the search again, it will fix the issue.

Just follow the steps below..

Step 1 : Login to Your Windows.

Step 2 : Press Start Menu or hit Windows Key,Click On Your user name.

Step 3 : Right Click on it to get Change Account Settings,Select it.

Step 4 : It Will Open A new Window,With A Picture of Yours On Right Pane,Click 

On Family & other Users/people on the left pane.

Step 5 : Click On Add Some one else to this PC.Which Will be on right Pane.

Step 6 : Enter Your Email Address If the Person You are going to Add has An 

Email id,else Click On The Person i want to add doesn't have an email address,And Also add a User Without Microsoft Account.

Step 7 : Enter Your Name,Password,etc and Click Next.

Step 8 : After that,you Will See that Person Had been added in Your PC User 

list.

Now, Sign out from this account and login to that account.

9) Now, visit C:\users\yourusername folder

10)Press Control key and A Keys of your Keyboard -> then Ctrl and C Keys. 

11) Visit your newly created user account folder, replace every contents that 

are inside that folder (Press Control and V Keys of your Keyboard)

Delete the old user account if needed, else use the new created account as it is..

This will temporarily fix the issue, or open CMD and type/copy paste this command DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth. Restart your PC It will fix the issue.

4) Select delete option.

5) A confirmation dialog, will appear asking you to select "yes" or "no", select yes.

           

6) Restart your PC.

7) Recheck for the updates..

This issue is most commonly seen as a DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION or when verifier is enabled a VRF_STACKPTR_ERROR is seen in the Memory dump.

Simply, visit the link download the ESD file,

2) Now, after downloading, you need to build that into ISO File..

Search for an Decryptor tool online  or simply download  ESD Decryptor tool

It was just a tool that is free, thanks to the developers of that github team👏👏.

3) Now, after downloading the decryptor tool, extract it to any folder.

4) Now, move the downloaded ESD file to the same location (just cut/copy paste)

5) There will be a software called decrypt.cmd file inside that ESD decryptor's extracted 

folder..
